I would like to thank Crisco for sponsoring my birthday cake waffle recipe.
I call these beauties cake batter birthday waffles, but take out the candle and these easy and festive waffles with glitter and fresh summer strawberries make a delicious dessert every day!
Cake dough birthday waffles
I used a purely simple Pillsbury white cake mix as the base for these fabulous waffles. I have loved the Purely Simple range for several months because they do not contain dyes, preservatives or artificial flavors. These are really simple and delicious products that contain ingredients that you will find in your pantry.
After whipping the dough following the instructions below, you can use a variety of ingredients as mixtures. I chose rainbow glitter, but you can add fresh fruit, chocolate chips or nuts.
If you've never used a cake mix in your waffle iron, let me tell you that it makes a really soft, tender and fluffy waffle. My kids are going crazy for this dessert and it really makes a special birthday treat. Spray some Crisco canola oil in the waffle iron
so the waffles don't stick.
During the summer, I love to garnish these waffles with fresh fruit cake batter. Nothing says summer like ripe, red and juicy strawberries.
These cake batter waffles taste perfect by themselves, but you can dress them up with whipped cream and extra sprinkles
. Add a candle on top if you are serving them as a birthday dessert. It is a great way to give your child a special surprise on their birthday morning.
