I was really excited when I first saw a potted oatmeal recipe on Pinterest. I mean who doesn't like a slow cooker recipe. And it cooks while you sleep and is ready to eat when you get up for breakfast! It doesn't get much better than that.

I have searched the internet for different oatmeal recipes and have noticed that some of them use steel cut oats and some use oatmeal Old-fashioned oats.
Either works fine but there could be a small change in consistency. You definitely don't want to use quick cooking oats, they cook too fast.
I recently started to stock up on staples and bought my first 25 lb bag of old fashioned oatmeal! I think it worked at around 0.50 pounds. I must like it.
Crock Pot Oatmeal Recipe
2 cups old-fashioned or steel oats
4 apples, peeled and chopped
4 cups of water
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Pinch of salt
Place all the ingredients together in a slow cooker. Do not stir. Cook over low heat for about 8 hours and you will have the most delicious porridge like oatmeal. It’s the perfect consistency. I could seriously eat it every morning for breakfast AND it's healthy. Well, depending on how much brown sugar you put in it!
