How to make instant beef stew
Necessary time: 1 hour and 5 minutes.
How to make beef stew in your instant jar
Season the meat
Place the stew meat in a bowl; Season with salt and pepper. Add the cornstarch and mix to evenly coat the meat. This can also be done directly in your instant jar to save a dish!
Brown the meat
Set the Instant Pot function to skip; add the butter when the pot is hot. When the butter starts to sizzle, add the stew meat and sear on all sides. It's for browning the meat (giving it flavor), and it should only take a few minutes in total. You don't need to cook the meat completely at this point.
Deglaze the instant pot
Deglaze the pan with beef broth, taking care to scrape off all the tasty pieces from the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon. Press Cancel on the instant pot.
Add additional ingredients to the pressure cooker
Add Worcestershire sauce, paprika, rosemary, thyme, bay leaf, onions, carrots, celery, potatoes, brown sugar and tomato paste. Stir to combine the ingredients.
Cook at high pressure
Close the cover and set the valve to the sealed position. Set Instant Pot on high pressure pressure cooker for 35 minutes. When the cooking time stops, let it free naturally for 10 minutes. After the 10 minute natural release, open the valve to release any remaining pressure. Remove the bay leaf. Serve immediately and enjoy!
If you like a lot of flavors, this Instant Pot Beef Stew Recipe is definitely for you.
