Removing the permanent marker from the kitchen floor

Q: Help! The grandchildren got the sharpness on my vinyl flooring. I am a tenant and I do not wish to buy new floors.

Our favorite tip: there is a product called Spot Shot at Wal-Mart. You can also order it on Amazon. He says it is for carpets, but we have used it everywhere. He removes the permanent marker. A wonderful product, we have gone through several boxes over the years. It's quick and easy. I suggest everyone keep a box in their pantry. Even remove the red koolaid from the white carpet … easily. We like it. I just used it this week to remove a green stain left by plasticine that was baked in the sun on a white plastic table.

Tip # 2: Rubbing alcohol should remove the permanent marker. Walmart in my area carries a cleaning product called Royal Crown, it works great on things like that. Whether you use it, let it sit on the stain for a few minutes before wiping it off.

Tip # 3: Try using a small amount of acetone-free nail polish remover on a cotton ball on the permanent marker. Use a slight circular motion until the marker is gone. I managed to remove the green permanent marker "Sharpie" from my beautiful wood floor and the TV screen after my 20 month old granddaughter followed an unauthorized drawing lesson.
