How to make a muffin crumble

There's just something special about the texture and flavor of a breadcrumb topping.

It adds so much flavor to muffins and also makes them look pretty.

For our snickerdoodle muffin crumble, you will need the following ingredients.

⅔ cup granulated sugar
⅓ cup of all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Do you know what's amazing with our snickerdoodle muffins? Part of this crumble actually goes directly into the dough, and the rest is reserved for the top of the muffins.


Of course, you're going to need a large muffin pan. This one is my favorite!

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon of baking soda

3 eggs, lightly beaten

¾ cups granulated sugar

1 stick of unsalted butter, melted and cooled

1 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract


⅔ cup granulated sugar

⅓ cup of all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a muffin pan with 12 cups of paper molds. Spray the paper with a non-stick cooking spray. For the crumble, mix 2/3 of sugar, flour and cinnamon. Using a fork, cut the butter until the crumbs form; put aside.For the muffins, in a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, salt and baking soda; put aside.In a medium bowl, using a fork or whisk, lightly beat the eggs. Stir in ¾ cup sugar, melted butter, sour cream and vanilla extract. Stir the wet mixture into the flour mixture until it is combined. Stir in half of the crumble (about ¾ cup) into the batter. Divide batter evenly among 12 muffin cups. Garnish with the rest of the crumble. Bake for 24 to 28 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool until easy to handle, then transfer to a wire rack to cook completely.


I first melted the butter, giving it time to cool before adding it to the egg mixture.
