1/2 tsp. shortening
1/2 tsp. peanut butter
1/2 tsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. sugar
2 tablespoons. Milk
1 C. vanilla extract
1 3/4 tsp. flour
1 C. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Black decorator glaze tube
Milk Duds or Whoppers
Beat shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, sugar, together. Add the egg, milk and vanilla extract. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt.
Form the dough into 1 inch balls and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes, or until it starts to brown.
Decorate these spider cookies while they are still hot. Use Whoppers or Milk Duds for spider bodies. You can use one or two body candies, depending on your taste.
If you place the candy on the cookies while the cookies are hot, the candy will melt slightly and then harden again. This will prevent them from dropping cookies. Just make sure you don't disturb them while they're curing.
