Sweet Potato Chili Sauce Recipe
I have always liked the idea of incorporating sweet potatoes into my chili, but until recently, this is not something I have never tried until Recently. I am very glad I did.

I have to say that I really love the flavor that sweet potatoes add to this sweet potato chili pan. I've always been a bit of a fan of sweet pepper and this dish gives me that sweetness in a nutritious and natural way.

If you wanted to make this sweet potato chili pan a little lighter, you could easily use ground turkey in place of ground beef.

More home-made comfort food
1 pound ground beef
1 15oz. can of black beans, rinsed and drained
1 large yellow onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, chopped
1 cup red bell pepper, diced
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon oregano
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 cup low sodium beef broth
2 cups sweet potatoes (peeled, cut into 1-inch pieces)
1 cup grated Monterey Jack and cheddar
salt and pepper to taste
Preheat the oven to 400 ° F.
Place a 12 inch cast iron skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef in an even layer and cook until golden brown. Drain the excess fat, leaving about a tablespoon. Add the onions, garlic, pepper, sweet potato and spices. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables soften, about 3 to 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes, black beans and beef broth and bring to a boil.
Place a cast iron skillet on the central oven rack and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the sweet potatoes are nice and tender. Add the grated cheese and grill until the cheese is melted and bubbled, about 2-3 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste; serve immediately and enjoy!
